MISSION, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
MISSION
The Garden Club of Millsboro has adopted the following mission: to dedicate our activities,
events, field trips, meetings, programs and projects to the enrichment of fellow gardeners and
service to our community.
GOALS
The Garden Club of Millsboro has adopted the following goals to carry out our mission:

To further educate the novice and experienced gardeners about
homeowner landscape/streetscape design and maintenance, horticulture of plant care,
container gardening, kitchen gardening, house plants, insects, pests and weed control

To beautify our gardens at home and in our community

To encourage conservation practices at home and in our community
OBJECTIVES
The Garden Club of Millsboro has adopted the following objectives to carry out our mission and
goals:
For our members:

To introduce and reinforce the principles of good horticultural practices at our monthly
meetings

To provide an environment for gardeners to share information
-
To develop a spirit of fellowship while expanding our horticultural knowledge and skills
For our community:

To develop a relationship and maintain that relationship with the Town Council of
Millsboro, Economic Development Project, Chamber of Commerce as a member
organization, State of Delaware and Delaware Department of Transportation to enhance
the horticultural beauty of Millsboro

To plan, install evergreens and flowers, and maintain plant material for planters placed in
and around town and on the Route 24 bridge

To design shrub beds, install evergreens and flowers, and maintain plant material at the
band stand, island and flag pole in Cupola Park
-
To design “Welcome to Millsboro” town sign shrub bed, install evergreens and flowers,
and maintain plant material
-
To change seasonal plants in town planters, Route 24 bridge, Cupola Park, and
“Welcome to Millsboro” town sign

To prepare proposals which qualify for available local and state grants
-
To conduct several fundraisers to help finance the cost of acquisitions and maintenance
of community planters and shrub beds
-
To conduct several educational events for the general public
